BAPKINGA is the promoter of the BHUTAN ENGINEERING POWER COMPANY PVT. LTD. He was an executive member in the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) from 1997-2000 and also served as the Vice President for BCCI, SAARC Chamber and China South Asian Business Forum for nine years (2000-2009).
Bapkinga was an employee in the Industries and Forest Division, Ministry of Trade from 1978-1992. During that period, he was assigned the role of a trainee officer for a year and in the following year he served as the Assistant Manager in the Marble Mining Project at Paro. He later became the Project Manager for a period of 3 years in the marble mining and gypsum exploration project at Ha and Pemagytshel. In the following year he was appointed as the General Manager in the Slate mining Project at Wangdi. In the year 1988, he was appointed as the Joint Director of the Business Opportunity and Information Centre unit for duration of 4 years. Bapkinga also served as the Dragpon for the Sarpang Court form 1992-1996.
From the year 1996 to date, Bapkinga has started and established businesses in Hotels, export of fresh fruits like apples and oranges, import of readymade garment from Thailand and Bangladesh and has formed a company for the Construction of Power high tension line and distribution.
