Bhutan Power Corporation

BPC was incorporated on July 1, 2002 and it is responsible for the distribution of safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to all Bhutanese households, and to provide transmission access for generating stations. It also wheels export power to India. BPC’s current focus is on increasing electricity coverage to achieve the national vision of “Electricity for All by 2013,” and improving the quality and reliability of its services, introducing new technology in areas of communications, energy dispatch and control, and developing human resources to meet future challenges.


Bhutan Telecom

The Department of Telecom was incorporated as Bhutan Telecom (BT) in July 2000 to provide ICT services in the country. BT offers fixed, mobile and internet services along with 58 other Value Added Services (VAS). It is the largest telecom company in Bhutan and has a total customer base of about 263,579 customers. All 20 districts in Bhutan are connected by mobile services and 3G services are available in Thimphu.In the near future, all districts will have fiber-optic broadband connections. Bhutan has an excellent International Bandwidth connectivity link totaling 310 Mbps.


DHI Infra

DHI Infra was established on January 2011 with the primary objective to promote and develop the country's infrastructure projects to accelerate socio-economic development. The company is presently undertaking three major infrastructure works which include the setting up of Education City, the establishment of Amochu Land Reclamation & Township and the creation of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) in Gelephu, Samtse and Samdrup Jongkhar through the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The most important mandate of DHI Infra is to carry out studies, submit policy and regulatory feedback to the government and initiate a transparent bidding mechanism to solicit potential investors for the above projects.


Drukair Corporation

Drukair is the national airline of the Kingdom of Bhutan. It started operations in 1983. Drukair operates flights to Bangkok, Kolkata, Bagdogra, Delhi, Bodhgaya, Kathmandu and Dhaka. Drukair has played a crucial role in supporting the Royal Government’s High Value Low Impact tourism policy and promoting Bhutan as an exclusive tourist destination by constantly improving access and connectivity into Bhutan.

Druk Green Power Corporation

Dungsam Cement Corporation

DCC envisages the set up of a Dry Process Cement Plant. It is a new, integrated, greenfield cement project with a production capacity of 1.0 million tonnes of clinker and 1.36 million tonnes of cement per year. The total cost of the project is USD 156 million and it is being developed with the assistance of the Government of India. The clinker production unit will commence on April 2012 and the commerical operation date of the plant is scheduled for July 2012.


Dungsam Polymers

Dungsam Polymers is a polypropylene (PP) manufacturing plant in Nganglam, Pemagatshel. Its primary purpose is to supply PP bags to Dungsam Cement Corporation. The total cost of the project is Nu. 168.76 million. The full equity required for the project is being provided upfront by DHI with plans for divestments to public of up to 49% once commerical operations being in 2012.


Natural Resource Development Corporation

NRDC is responsible for the extraction of construction materials like timber, sand, and stone and ensuring that they are made available at affordable prices in a fair and equitable manner. The extraction of these natural resources is done in close consultation with the Royal Government to ensure long-term sustainability.
