Following the executive order from the Prime Minister, Bank of Bhutan has finally manged to obtain the primary membership of MasterCard after a series of due deligence process. The Bank of Bhutan is the first bank to obtain the membership of MasterCard and it is a historic achievement for Bank of Bhutan as well as for the Kingdom of Bhutan.

The RMA, DHI, Finance Ministry, TCB, GNH Comission and Mc Kinskey played an important role in helping Bank of Bhutan to obtain the primary membership.

Mr. Ashoke SJB Rana (CEO) of Himalayan Bank Limited (HBL) and Mr. Kinga Tshering (CEO) of Bank of Bhutan Limited (BOBL) signed a Service Agreement today amidst a special function held at Tridevi Marg.

The Managing Director of the RMA met the Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank and the teams from HBL on the partnership between BOBL and HBL

As per the Service Agreement, HBL has agreed to provide professional, technical, gateway service & consultancy service to BOBL which will enable BOBL to introduce acquiring and issuing service of card products related to Master Card and VISA International to its customers.

HBL and BOBL believe that this agreement will pave the way for further mutual co-operation between HBL and BOBL in extending other banking services in future.
