DHI has developed a Draft Comprehensive Entrepreneurship Development Program. On the 29th of August 2011, the proposal shall be presented to the private sector at the NRDCL Conference Hall.

The initiative comes as part of the Private Sector Development (PSD) mainly to assist entrepreneurs through entrepreneurship program that shall help incubate business ideas and develop businesses.

The DHI’s Draft Entrepreneurship Development Program principally elaborates three necessary elements to start and sustain businesses:

1. Develop practical business skills in experienced, educated and mature potential entrepreneurs (the Training Program)

2. Provide significant equity capital as a foundation to start and grow the most promising businesses (Seed Fund)

3. Sustained advice and mentoring by experienced business people, to assure not only initial success but also sustained growth of the business (Mentoring)

DHI as an interim measure shall be organizing fortnightly Interactive Business Session to begin facilitation and assistance to the entrepreneurs, until the DHI’s Entrepreneurship Development Program is implemented.

The meeting on the 29th of August shall take the opportunity to introduce the Interactive Business Session, receive feed back on the program from the entrepreneurs and create awareness.

In collaboration with the Bhutan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), DHI has received confirmation from mix of participants for the meet.

“The success of the program depends largely on having enthusiastic and motivated entrepreneurs and mentors primarily from the private sector. From the upcoming meeting with our Bhutanese entrepreneurs, we hope to understand what are their needs, whether our program proposal suit and take their feed back to fine tune the program that befits our entrepreneurs” Karma Sonam Dorji, Senior Analyst-DHI.
